Communications Committee

Committee Chair: Jordan Kenyon with The Grove and The Enclave at Ridgefield (Jordan.Kenyon@assetliving.com)

The purpose of the Communications Committee is to maintain the website with current information for the membership and maintain social media accounts with pertinent information to keep members informed and engaged. The communications committee is also responsible for taking pictures at MBAA events.

Education Committee

Committee Chair:

The Education Committee prepares an annual education schedule. The Education Committee must be dedicated to creating seminars and classes that will provide both a financial and educational value for the members that attend, as well as produce revenue for the association. They must constantly search for new and interesting speakers and teachers so that the interest in the educational opportunities remains high. The Education Committee must also coordinate with the National Apartment Association to ensure that the proper designations, certificates, etc. are awarded to our members that have met the necessary requirements.

Events and Programs Committee

Committee Chair: Stephanie Cooper with The Reserve at Mill Creek (reserveatmillcreekpm@greystar.com)

The Events and Programs committee is responsible for all events, including but not limited to securing the venue, scheduling of speakers, and planning the event. There are monthly events that are planned for in advance and created specifically for networking and camaraderie. The committee also plans the yearly Awards, Bus Tour, Pelicans Game, and Holiday Party. Committee members reach out to MBAA members via phone call or in-person visits to invite them to upcoming events and encourage members to RSVP. Someone from this committee should be present at each event to greet members and document attendance.

Government Affairs Committee

Committee Chair:

As members of the MBAA, we have united to improve the apartment industry's services, stay abreast of legislative issues, network among our members, offer educational programs, and more. With this in mind, the Government Affairs Committee assists by staying informed about the political happenings on both the local, state, and national levels. Additionally this committee networks with other MBAA members, lobbyists, SCAA members, and NAA members. This committee's significant events each year are the attendance and participation in the NAA's Advocate Conference, planning an annual PAC fundraiser, and the Legislative/Education Conference in Columbia.

Membership Committee

Committee Chair: Kaila Baines with Sherwin Williams (kaila.m.baines@sherwin.com)

The Membership Committee meets monthly and has the responsibility of increasing and maintaining the membership of the association. The Membership Committee is also responsible for organizing Membership 101 events every quarter. This task is extremely important because the larger the membership is locally, the stronger our political muscle is locally and nationally. Maintaining and increasing the membership numbers also allows MBAA to provide more educational opportunities at better rates, to produce special events and increase the power and effectiveness of our charitable endeavors. It gives supplier partner members a larger potential client base as well.

Philanthropy Committee

Committee Chair: Kevin with Puppy Poo Pickup (puppypoo@puppypoopu.com)

The Philanthropy Committee is dedicated to making a positive impact in our local community by supporting charitable initiatives that align with our industry’s values. Comprised of passionate professionals from the multifamily housing sector, the committee organizes fundraising events, volunteer opportunities, and donation drives to assist local nonprofits, housing-related causes, and community development efforts. Through collaboration and service, we strive to enhance the well-being of residents, strengthen neighborhoods, and demonstrate the apartment industry’s commitment to social responsibility.

Suppliers Council

Committee Co-Chairs:

Katherine Foret with BELFOR (katherine.foret@us.belfor.com)

Tiffany Hanson with Renovia (thanson@renovia.com)

The Suppliers Council serves as a committee to get supplier partner members together to further supplier impact and involvement in the MBAA. A sampling of these goals includes: increasing supplier partner participation in MBAA events, providing support for all MBAA events as needed, and planning and execution of the supplier partner trade show.
